The trainers were from DART, Zeke and Tobin, had years of experience and a lot to share…ĭuring the training we learned a lot, we started doing some stretches that didn’t make sense at that moment, but I was very thankful that night that we did that. I was surprised by people with different skill levels, some with no experience at all just like me and others that have been riding off road for many years, like Tracy. The training was a 2-day training that took place in beautiful Tellico plains, I was surprised about the different riders attending the training, I remember a lady coming from Colorado, Deb, and several others from different places. That’s why I got an entry level dual sport bike, then I met Shawn, from White lightning, who encouraged me to join the ADV training classes that they provide, and I immediately signed up. I used to ride street bikes, but when I came to the US, I knew I wanted something different, I wanted to get in the dirt, and I wanted to get muddy… This is Pato, I’m 44 and I’m Argentinian. Our goal is for Dirt Wayz riders to be trained to ride safely to reduce risks, ride effectively to enable riders to apply appropriate skills to unique challenges and ride efficiently to preserve energy. But most importantly, riders are never forced to try something they might be uncomfortable doing. We help riders master new skills, take on new challenges and expand their comfort zone when ready. This course is designed under our philosophy to leverage your new skills and is delivered in a “No Judgment Zone” environment. Our goal for this course is to prepare students to develop the skills and confidence to enjoy the benefits and freedom to begin their own excursions into the wilderness. The Dirt Wayz training course provides the unique opportunity to apply what you have learned in the field on a guided day ride and training experience which few other training companies provide. If there is time remaining we try and fit in a led ride but time does not allow for this.Įxperienced pavement riders will find this course very enlightening as they will learn that the skills needed for riding properly off-pavement can significantly differ from riding high-traction pavement. The first day consists of the ADV basics from Correct body positioning & balance, Throttle and clutch control, Ascending/descending hills safely and confidently, riding over/around obstacles, and slow speed maneuvering & control.ĭay 2 will be growing on what we learned on day 1, plus adding in Hill fail training, Rear brake control at speed, learning to tow a friend out of a situation, and more. Participants will be limited to 10 riders, delivering the most personalized instruction. This two-day event is developed for new adventure / dual-sport motorcycle riders with little or no experience riding off-pavement. ![]()
